WELCOME TO
PHOENIX FALCONRY

                                       News - February 2010

With the weather remaining positively Polar this month life has been hard!

Our water supply has remained frozen for the majority of the month but we have battled on. The birds have been working hard, especially our hunting team of Harris Hawks who have braved the weather daily to entertain our daily hunting guests along with our GSP bitch Fay whose figure is returning nicely after her November litter.

It’s been a real international month with guest’s visiting from as far afield as Indonesia and New Zealand all of whom have received a warm Perthshire welcome! One particular highlight this month was the visit of Scottish celebrity camera man and presenter Gordon Buchanan of BBC’s “Spring Watch” fame. Gordon joined us unexpectedly as a guest on one of our daily Phoenix Experiences and enjoyed his visit so much he has already booked a hunting trip in for the autumn. We enjoyed your visit too Gordon and it’s always a pleasure to meet folk with a true love and interest for all of Scotland’s wildlife.

Finally, after over twenty months planning, hammering and nailing, screwing and cutting and scrimping and saving I am happy to announce that the entire Phoenix collection of birds has now been moved into our new facility. Whilst certain individuals have taken a few weeks to settle into their new accommodation, it’s an incredible feeling to know that the collection of raptors we have built up over the past twenty years are now safe and settled in their new luxury homes. This has been no small effort and a big thank you goes out to everyone who has helped us make this dream become a reality (You know who you are)

And so the future looks bright.... the breeding season has started, the end of the hunting season is drawing to a close and we might even see the thermometer rise above freezing in the next few weeks (no seriously!) So if you’re into wildlife, into raptors and into the countryside we are here waiting to share our passion, knowledge and state of the art facility with you because we can proudly boast to be “Scotland’s very finest falconry facility”
